About the tour
Dzongri Trek is a shorter and moderate alternative to the Goechala Trek, ideal for those looking for high-altitude experiences without the full 11-day commitment. The trek offers stunning panoramic views of Mt. Kanchendzonga, Mt. Pandim, and other Himalayan peaks. The trail passes through Khangchendzonga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is rich in flora, fauna, and beautiful rhododendron forests. Best months: April, May, Sept, Oct & Nov. Maximum altitude: 13,778 ft. Suitable for ages 12+, with a moderate difficulty level.
Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival at Bagdogra airport/NJP railway station and drive to Yuksom (5643 ft./145 km/6 hrs). Evening free for leisure. (Overnight at hotel/home stay/camp)
Day 2
Trek from Yuksom (5,643 ft) to Tshoka (9,701 ft./6 hrs). Evening free for leisure. (Overnight at huts/camp)
Day 3
Trek from Tshoka (9,701 ft) to Dzongri (13,024 ft./6 hrs). Evening free for leisure. (Overnight at huts/camp)
Day 4
Hike to Dzongri Top (13,778 ft) for sunrise views and return to Dzongri (3 hrs). Evening free for leisure. (Overnight at huts/camp)
Day 5
Trek from Dzongri (13,024 ft) to Tshoka (9,701 ft./6 hrs). Evening free for leisure. (Overnight at huts/camp)
Day 6
Trek from Tshoka (9,701 ft) to Yuksom (5,643 ft./6 hrs). Evening free for leisure. (Overnight at huts/camp)
Day 7
Drive from Yuksom to Bagdogra airport/NJP railway station (145 km/6 hrs).
