About the tour

Goechala trek is one of the most popular and adventurous treks in Sikkim. The trail is blessed with rhododendron forests and vibrant birdlife. Trekkers witness stunning views of Mt. Kanchendzonga (8585m), the third highest mountain in the world, along with other prominent peaks like Mt. Pandim (6691m), Kabru North & South, Kumbhakarna (Janoo), and more. The trail passes through Khangchendzonga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Best months: April, May, Sept, Oct & Nov. Maximum altitude: 15,100 ft. Suitable for ages 12+, duration 11 days. Foreigners require ILP and special trek permits through local operators. Citizens of China, Myanmar, and Bangladesh are not permitted to trek here. Indian citizens need valid ID proof.

Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival at Bagdogra airport/NJP railway station and drive to Yuksom (5643 ft./145 km/6 hrs). Evening free for leisure. (Overnight at hotel/home stay/camp)

Day 2

Trek from Yuksom (5,643 ft) to Bakhim (8,654 ft./5 hrs). Evening free for leisure. (Overnight at huts/camp)

Day 3

Trek from Bakhim (8,654 ft) to Tshoka (9,701 ft./3 hrs). Evening free for leisure. (Overnight at huts/camp)

Day 4

Trek from Tshoka (9,701 ft) to Dzongri (13,024 ft./6 hrs). Evening free for leisure. (Overnight at huts/camp)

Day 5

Hike to Dzongri Top (13,778 ft) for sunrise views and return to Dzongri (3 hrs). Evening free for leisure. (Overnight at huts/camp)

Day 6

Trek from Dzongri to Thansing (12,946 ft./6 hrs). Evening free for leisure. (Overnight at huts/camp)

Day 7

Trek from Thansing to Lamuney (13,743 ft./2 hrs). Evening free for leisure. (Overnight at huts/camp)

Day 8

Early morning trek from Lamuney to Goechala View Point (15,100 ft) via Samiti Lake and return to Kockchurang or Thansing (12 hrs trek). Evening free for leisure. (Overnight at huts/camp)

Day 9

Trek from Thansing/Kockchurang to Tshoka (9,701 ft./6–7 hrs). Evening free for leisure. (Overnight at huts/camp)

Day 10

Trek from Tshoka to Yuksom (5,643 ft./6 hrs). Evening free for leisure. (Overnight at huts/camp)

Day 11

Drive from Yuksom to Bagdogra airport/NJP railway station (145 km/6 hrs).
